Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Strip says toll includes six children, 253 wounded; does not say how many of those killed since Friday are affiliated with Islamic Jihad terror group

The death toll from violence in Gaza has risen to 31, including six children, the Hamas-run health ministry in the Palestinian enclave said Sunday.

The Gazan officials did not say how many of the total killed were affiliated with terror groups.

The Israel Defense Forces says numerous terrorists from Palestinian Islamic Jihad are among those killed in the multiple waves of strikes that have been targeting positions and facilities belonging to the terror group in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has also said four Gaza children were killed in an Islamic Jihad rocket misfire on Saturday night. In all, Israel says at least nine of the deaths in Gaza have been the result of failed rocket launches by the terror group.

An explosion in Jabaliya on Sunday morning killed at least two people and wounded seven others, according to Palestinian media reports.

That apparent launch failure came after four children were among the seven killed, also in the Jabaliya refugee camp, apparently in similar circumstances on Saturday evening.

Israel has denied responsibility for the deaths, saying that explosion was caused by a rocket launched by Palestinian terror operatives that misfired.

The IDF released a video Sunday morning of what it said showed the misfiring of the rocket on Saturday night.

The video showed a barrage of rockets being fired from the strip, with one rocket appearing to stall shortly after launch, before plummeting towards the Jabaliya camp. Gazan officials say the children were killed in an Israeli strike.

According to IDF estimates, 120 rockets fired from Gaza since Friday have landed short in the Strip.

Also on Saturday, Israel said it had killed a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad terror group in the Gaza Strip.
